I would like to share my tips for books, which I have found interesting and have inspired me in the past. Maybe you, too, will find them to be beneficial, encouraging and optimistic.
The Man Who Wanted to Be Happy, Lauren Gounelle – a book about a man, who succeeded in changing his life and followed his dreams. My daughter recommended this book to me and I then gave them out to my colleagues. I wanted them to know that everything is based on the personal decisions made by each of us.
The Six Bullerby Children, Astrid Lindgren – I have actually loved this book my entire life. It is about joy from a young age, in a normal life. About the playfulness and creativity of children. It is a really fun book.
Book About the Family, Virginia Satir – written about what is important in a family. What needs to be done so that every member of the family is happy. This, of course, can be applied to other areas, not just to families.
Nobody’s Perfect, Vladimir Fanta - a story about how it is good to respect the rules of appropriate behavior. This book is maybe even more useful than some chapters from the study of management.
Coffee and Cigarettes, Marie Doležalová - Marie has an amazing point of view. She knows how to make fun of herself and others and has a very intelligent sense of humor. She also pays attention to the details of life. And plus, I admire her as a dancer. She is so well-rounded!
7 Habits, Stephen R. Covey - life wisdom from a matured manager, written from the heart and from his own experiences. It’s very human and simple, but still brilliant.
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo – I'm not surprised it’s a bestseller. This book describes a very effective way how to clear one’s mind and change your life for the better. How to get rid of old troubles and things that just take energy away from you and how to surround one's self with only the things we love.
The Egg and I, Betty McDonald – an astonishing example of how to survive life’s difficulties through love and humor. Also, about the preconceptions of the roles of men and women.
Jackie after Jack, Christopher Andersen – a portrayal of lady, Jackie Kennedy. About a beautiful, strong, intelligent woman, who overcame the very difficult times in her life with elegance.
Nice Girls Still Don´t Get the Corner Office, Lois P. Frankel, PhD – Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers.
All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Robert Fulghum – the glorious truth that probably the most important time for the future of your life is during your preschool days. Say thank you, greet others, clean up after yourself, say you’re sorry, etc. Children learn more from watching others than they do from words. And that applies even in adulthood. Employees also pay attention to whether the manager follows their own teachings.
Leadership from One Heart to Another, Jaroslav Průša - about how to find pleasure in what we do. About how leadership is about emotions and working with energies. This is exactly how I see it, too. I know Jaroslav and I am happy to admit that he was my leadership teacher. I gladly ask him for feedback from time to time.
